The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable. The free breakfast was great and well stocked up until 10am. Parking was secure and convenient. The staff were all super - friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The location was perfect - and easy walk to all the fun things in Salem and to the commuter rail to take into Boston.

I have dietary restrictions. The banana was nice. I am also 6foot3 and got a kick out of the incredibly low ceilings. We had a great time.

The innkeepers were beyond helpful and kind. They made wonderful recommendations on restaurants, museums and attractions. We will most definitely stay here when we return to Salem.
Such an interesting historical gem of a city. Lots to explore, contemplate and take in. You absorb the witchy vibe in a cool way, but then keep exploring the museums, waterfront, parks and fantastic shops and restaurants. Like a mini-Boston, but more focused.

Salem is a great little city with so much historical significance, beautiful old homes and a fantastic museums. If you have the time, it is well worth a side trip.
Mercy Tavern is also a great spot, lovely food, cocktails and staff.
I wanted to go to Salem since I was a child, 30 years later I finally made it. You won't be disappointed.

Anybody that is in to the type of stuff in Salem would love it. Could spend a week there just looking at all the shops. Then you have the tours and self guided paths, you really just have to research what you are into.

Salem is a fun place to visit.
Salem is a fun place to visit. Lots of attractions and activities to keep you busy. Food was great and many places to choose from. We liked Reds, Dire Wolf Tavern and Carmel Patisserie.
I would highly recommend any time of year because of the variety of attractions and places to visit. The Witch Dungeon Museum and the Witch House were among my favorites to visit.
Awesome place for a girls get away. We were able to walk everywhere and see what we wanted. The boutiques and shopping were awesome.
We also did a Psychic Reading and a Witches Circle and Witch City Walking tour. We loved all of them. I would definitely come back and do them again.

The history of Salem is just so.. Interesting, colorful, fasinating, rewarding and a little sad. What human beings can doing to each other is unbelievable in both evil and good ways.
We stayed at the Salem INN and loved it. Ate at Turners, Rockafellas and some other places that slip my mind. These two were great.
Used the trolly and walked alot.

The museums moved along quickly and provided a hood educational background of the Salem Witch trials. I purchased a multi pass ahead of time, which I usually do to offset expenses/time when vacationing. Suggest you book ahead the tour of The House of Seven Gables. There were plenty of good restaurants to choose from and all staff at each eatery were more than pleasant and excellent wait staff. I would not recommend for families with children younger than 10/12, and unfortunately the museums are not intended for those with physical handicaps (steep wooden staircases which lend to historical preservation).
Little luxury touches like clean robe, thick plush towels, complimentary waters in room, plenty of complimentary toiletries, & 5 star service from Jonathan, who I believe is a manager. He was always VERY accommodating with a kind dimeanor I appreciated as kindness is no longer a common thing. The room was clean and the hotel is in walking distance of a nice laundromat as well as historical landmarks. The ice machine & vending machine on my floor was easily accessible.
Room was good size and two comfy beds. Breakfast was delicious and included. I mean breakfast, not a muffin or box of cereal...Wow! The staff were so nice and accommodating to us which isn't always the case. Another B&B in the area cannot touch the hospitality that we received here, and I paid quite a bit more to stay at their establishment. Would hands down recommend Salem Inn!
My daughter flew in and arrived at the hotel a bit before my friend and I did by car. Hennessey was very gracious, by giving her the Wi-Fi password and let her sit in the lobby until we arrived. Extra comfortable beds and pillows. The perfect central location to all the places we wanted to go. The room was spacious with a nice seating area and lots of drawer space.
The location of this hotel is perfect. Right on the Essex walkway and close to so many things. Although the hotel doesn’t have its own parking, there is a lot that is very close. The staff was absolutely wonderful and responsive. The room was large and decorated well. And the restaurant on the roof has great drinks and food.
Stayed in a double room and it was huge! It even had 1.5 bathrooms! Nice ambiance with chandeliers hanging in the room. Great location and convenient onsite parking. Ate dinner at The Tavern and breakfast at Nathaniel's. Both meals were delicious and staff was attentive. A beautiful hotel with a lot of history.
Absolutely incredible art in the room. Probably the coolest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. My daughter stayed up half the night just admiring the art. We were in the enchanted forest room.
Staff were also super nice and accommodating, and the area was quiet but close enough to downtown Salem to walk.
This was the most beautiful hotel I think I’ve ever stayed in. This hotel is not ultra modern, it is a historic hotel; but the attention to detail and upkeep to their roots were exceptional. Staff were wonderful and friendly. Great breakfast food too! Within walking distance of main sites of Salem.
The Merchant is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are exceptionally appointed, and the location couldn't have been more perfect. Lovely having snacks available on each level. I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Salem who is looking for an elevated historic hotel experience.
Salem is a great place to stay. The Salem in puts you at the very beginning of Essex Street, the main street running through the centre of the city. The staff were great and couldn't have been more helpful 👍 Great tips like use Uber and Salem skipper travel service. Take a ferry to Boston
The hotel was a beautiful historic building centrally located in the heart of Salem, Mass and there was free parking available. Our room was spacious and was also nice and quiet. We would definitely stay there again when we return to Salem. Overall it was a very pleasant experience.
Great location and value. The free breakfast and on-site parking were both very convenient. The room was spacious and comfortable. I discuss the hotel in depth in my Better Travel With Food blog.
Great location in the heart of Salem (across the street from the Common and the Hawthorne Hotel event space).
The owners were friendly.
The historic space is beautifully cared for.
We loved the location of this hotel. We were well within walking distance to everything in Salem. We also loved that we could park at the hotel at no cost.
